There are some ancient traditions and rituals that we are gradually losing out. Thus to imbibe the spiritual and cultural values, on January 29, SVAV organised a very colourful and vibrant Basant Panchami within the school premise. The celebration began with Havan, which is also known as Yagna, in which, sacred fire is kindled using ‘Doorba Grass’ and wood; and then pouring into it oblations such as ghee, food grains, sesame seeds, while chanting Vedic Mantras. Havan purifies the air and the vedic chants help in purifying the mind. The Havan was conducted by Swami Akhilananda Saraswati from Gurukul at Poonth. During this Basant Panchami Celebration SVAV started another tradition of worshipping the idol of Goddess Saraswati, the embodiment of knowledge. For the first time idol of Goddess Saraswati was brought to the campus and puja was performed. The students and all staff members celebrated the festival with
great enthusiasm and zeal, seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and praying for knowledge and wisdom. The program concluded with Saraswati Vandana and Pushpanjali, i.e., offering of flowers.
